Things to Bring for Your First Day of College

It’s always a good thing to come prepared, especially on your first day of college. One of the most important things to bring with you is a DVD player and TV for your dorm room, because you’re going to need some entertainment when nothing is happening. Another good thing to bring with you is plenty of condoms, because chances are you will end up needing them eventually. A power strip for your dorm is another necessity, because you’ll probably have a ton of stuff to plug in like your TV, DVD player, microwave, lamp, etc.

If you don’t want your dorm to look like hell, then you will probably want to think about bringing some cleaning supplies with you. Make sure to pick up some air freshener just in case you and some of your friends decide to do some smoking and need to cover it up. Having some tools like a screwdriver also couldn’t hurt, because if something around your dorm breaks down you’ll want to be able to fix it. A stapler is something else that will definitely come in handy when you do school papers that need to be put together.

A bottle opener is another thing to bring, since you will be cracking open plenty of beers while you are there. Flip flops are also a good thing to have for any college student; they are comfortable and good for when you hit the showers. You should also think about getting earplugs, just in case you have to deal with a roommate who snores. Also remember that when you don’t have the tools to fix something that breaks around your dorm, duct tape is the next best solution. Finally, buying a microwave for your room is a great investment because you’ll be able to make plenty of easy convenience foods while studying.
