Some of the most nerve-racking moments of my life have simply been asking out a girl. Once, back in high school, I actually had to vomit immediately before doing so in order to somehow calm the nerves that come with asking a girl out. But, the thing is guys, it’s really not that scary of an issue when you know how to correctly go about doing it.
What To Establish First

Before asking a girl out, you should establish some kind of attraction with the girl. This is kind of the laying-down of the groundwork so that she will say “yes” when you ask her out. (In which case, it’s not going to be nearly as scary anymore.)
Make sure the girl sees that you’re a fun guy to hang out with, and not a shy introverted guy who she may find kind of creepy. Show her that you are a leader, being the one to get your friends all together and the kind of guy who floats around a party saying “hi” to everyone. Girls also want a bit of a chase, so don’t let on that you’re THAT into her in the first place or you’d be sabotaging your chances for later.
What Not to Do
When asking a girl out, there are a few things you should keep yourself from doing at all costs:
- Asking her to a dinner or movie. These two have become social short-hands for “this is a serious date,” which will scare off a girl because of it’s seriousness.
- Being too eager. If you make it seem like it’s a big deal if she’s going to say yes or no when you ask her out, then she’s going to get flustered and scared of the high pressure of the night. Make if seem like you don’t really care. Either way, you’re going to have a fun time.
- Be specific. Don’t ask her if she’d like to do something, sometime, fishing to check if she’s into you. Instead, make a specific plan (let’s do this, at this time, at this date) and see if she accepts. If not, you can work around her schedule and plan for a better time when she can make it, but don’t put it on her to come up with an idea. This way, you can also put yourself in the best situation to make you come off the greatest!
