Staying Fit as a Freshman

It’s common for a lot of students going into college for the first year to gain weight, give or take 15 pounds. If you want to stay fit and avoid gaining this weight your first year, then there are a few things you’ll want to think about. The first thing is to make sure that your dorm room isn’t stocked up on unhealthy snack foods like Doritos and soda. A lot of college students also make the mistake of eating a lot at night before they go to bed because of long study sessions. Eating at night on a regular basis can destroy your body, so you’ll want to make sure that you put down that donut before hitting the sack.

Not exercising is another way to make sure that you gain weight while you are in college. Between school and work things can get pretty hectic, so you will want to think about some of the different things you can do to stay fit. Walking to your classes across campus is good, but chances are you will probably need something a little bit more. If there is a gym or fitness center somewhere in your school, that can be a great place to go. A lot of freshman guys go to gyms to lift weights and the girls go to use treadmills and other cardio equipment. You can go between classes so you’ll have something to do and still keep the weight off.

Eating when you’re bored is something that a lot of people do, especially in college. This is why it’s a good idea to always stay active, doing things like joining a fraternity or looking into a certain club that you might be interested it. Sitting around in your dorm room all day eating and watching is really going to pack on the pounds. Another way to gain weight quick is to drink a lot of alcohol. Parties can be great in college, but when you drink on a regular basis it’s bound to start showing eventually.
